Most salespeople are too submissive with their call openers.
They open with "Is now a bad time?" or "Do you have 30 seconds?"
Your openers on calls are becoming even more important.
The more calls you have that are less than 20 seconds, the more likely your number will be blacklisted. This is based on Koncert's data analysing millions of cold calls.
This was true of all international calls, not just in the US and Europe.
So how do you avoid this?
The key to your opener is to make it about them, not you.
Mine is "Hey Jeff, we're not spoken before but it seems online that you're hiring salespeople - is that correct?"
I then go into a pain and a probing question such as:
"A lot of salespeople use AI in the wrong way for spray and pray. How are you training your new hires to keep a human touch and make cold calls like this?"
Some will hang up - that's the nature of cold calling.
But the majority will give you 20 seconds and help you avoid being blacklisted.
