Angry prospects
"How did you get my mobile/cell number?" - Someone shouts angrily down the phone.
If you work in sales, you’ll know that fewer people now have an “office” or “landline” phone. This means the only way to call some customers is on their mobile.
While I’ve found most people are OK with this outreach, others find it too intrusive.
If you have an angry customer, just be honest and helpful. My reply is:
"We use Apollo and you're on their database. If you'd like to be removed, I can send you the link to be removed from their records. Would that be helpful?"
Why does this work?
1) It defuses the situation as you stop "selling"
2) No sleazy sales lies or lines
3) They obviously don't like cold calls on their mobile so helping them be removed from the list is appreciated
So what happens after?
Typically they'll be happy to receive the link to unsubscribe and will then hear you out.
Is that the case 100% of the time?
Of course not.
Some will just hang up.
But that's just the way the cookie crumbles in sales.
Forward this to a colleague if you think it can help them.
